The EMU Symphony Orchestra is an organization of approximately 70 music majors, minors, and non-music majors. The Symphony Orchestra averages 6 concerts per year, including the Halloween Concert and matinee Children's Concerts in December. It has performed to critical acclaim at the Midwestern Conference on School Vocal and Instrumental Music in Ann Arbor, and has earned accolades from internationally known composers and conductors.

The Michigan Firehouse Museum is located in the historic firehouse constructed in 1898 which was used by the city of Ypsilanti until 1975. A new 10,000 square foot addition to the historic building was completed in 2002. Exhibits include fire trucks and all manner of fire fighting equipment.
